1. Background

In accordance with the Spanish regulations governing the use of cookies in the provision of electronic communication services, set out in Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 of 11 July on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce, we inform you about the cookies used on the website of Sara Cobos Giner and the reason for their use.

2. What are cookies?

A cookie is a file downloaded to your computer when you access certain web pages. Among other things, cookies allow a web page to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of a user or their device and, depending on the information they contain and how you use your device, they can be used to recognise the user. Cookies are associated only with an anonymous user and their computer or device and do not provide references that reveal their personal data.

3. Types of cookies

3.1. By the entity that manages them

  • First-party cookies: sent to the user’s terminal from a device or domain managed by the publisher itself, from which the service requested by the user is provided.
  • Third-party cookies: sent to the user’s terminal from a device or domain not managed by the publisher but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.

3.2. By purpose

Cookies can be used for many purposes. Depending on the purpose for which the data obtained through cookies is processed, these may include:

  • Technical cookies: those that allow the user to browse a website, platform or application and use the different options or services it offers, including those the publisher uses to manage and operate the website and enable its functions and services, such as controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items in an order, completing a purchase, managing payment, controlling fraud related to the security of the service, applying to register for or take part in an event, counting visits for software licence billing purposes, using security features while browsing, storing content for broadcasting video or sound, enabling dynamic content (e.g. a loading animation for text or images) or sharing content through social networks.

Technical cookies are exempt from the obligations set out in Article 22.2 LSSI when they enable the service requested by the user, as is the case with the cookies listed above. However, if these cookies are also used for non-exempt purposes (e.g. behavioural advertising), they will be subject to those obligations.

  • Preference or personalisation cookies: those that remember information so that the user accesses the service with certain characteristics that may differ from those of other users, such as language, the number of results to display when searching, or the appearance or content of the service depending on the browser used or the region from which the service is accessed.

If the user chooses these characteristics themselves (e.g. selecting the language of a website by clicking the corresponding flag icon), the cookies are exempt from the obligations of Article 22.2 LSSI as they are considered a service expressly requested by the user, provided the cookies serve exclusively the selected purpose.

  • Analytics or measurement cookies: those that allow the party responsible for them to track and analyse the behaviour of users of the websites to which they are linked, including measuring the impact of advertisements. The information collected is used to measure the activity of websites, applications or platforms in order to make improvements based on how users use the service.

  • Behavioural advertising cookies: those that store information about user behaviour obtained through continuous observation of their browsing habits, allowing a specific profile to be built in order to display advertising accordingly.

3.3. By how long they remain active

  • Session cookies: designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page. They are usually used to store information that only needs to be kept to provide the service requested by the user on a single occasion (e.g. a list of purchased products) and disappear when the session ends.
  • Persistent cookies: the data remains stored on the device and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the party responsible for the cookie, ranging from a few minutes to several years.

4. Cookies used on this website

Cookies offer advantages in the provision of information society services: they make it easier for users to browse and access the different services offered by this website, spare users from having to configure general settings each time they visit, and help improve the operation of the website and the services provided through it.

This website does not use first-party cookies, nor analytics or advertising cookies. Only the Vimeo player, used to display the videos on the website, sets the following technical cookie:
